OFSOA LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE TO BETTER SERVE ITS MEMBERS

One of the biggest challenges the OFSOA experienced with its website was how difficult it was to keep its content current and to adapt to the changing needs and interests of its members.  Last year, they were introduced to Public Aware's website program as another option to make it easier to maintain their website.  The system is used by the Western Fire Chiefs Association and its affiliated state chiefs associations, as well as several fire departments.  They were able to build their new website using the application, which is similar to Microsoft Word, and members have been assigned to manage each section as it corresponds with their duties as board members.

PUBLIC AWARE ATTENDS FIRE SERVICE TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

IAFC and Microsoft jointly presented the 1st Annual Fire Service Technology Symposium to promote the vision of the 21st century fire department on December 6 and 7, in Redmond, Washington. The event focused on the key issues the fire service community faces today and in the future and allowed firefighters and emergency medical personnel to interact with Microsoft and industry partners and learn first-hand, how technology is enabling communities around the country to become more prepared.

Public Aware was in attendance to showcase its web solutions for fire service departments and organizations.

The measure of success set by Microsoft was focused around the ability to reach an attendance of at least 150 fire service leaders from around the country. At the end of the two days, there were over 370 attendees, representing 36 states and 4 countries. This was the most attendees ever for a similar first time Microsoft event.
